We will meet you in our Porto bike shop to provide you with a detailed briefing for your tour, hand you over the GPS with preloaded tracks, detailed routebook and all the gear and support.
After the private briefing and bike fit, you can start riding alongside the Douro river on the same day or the next day. The following days you will be riding east towards Entre-os-rios, Resende, Peso da Régua and Pinhão, in the heart of the Douro wine country, where you'll be able to explore this UNESCO world heritage site, before returning to Porto by train alongside the river.

Your ride will start from the Douro's river mouth, Foz do Douro. As you follow the river into Porto's downtown, you'll be able to view Vila Nova de Gaia's picturesque quays and port wine lodges. Continue cycling along the scenic N108, always keeping the Douro River in sight. As you leave the city behind, the route will take you through tranquil riverside villages and lush green landscapes. The road meanders alongside the river, offering stunning views of the water and the surrounding hillsides. Along the N108, you will ride through small villages and verdant countryside, with the Douro River as your constant companion. The gentle rolling hills and serene river views make for a picturesque and enjoyable ride. Approaching Entre-os-Rios, you will cross the historic bridge over the Tâmega River, a tributary of the Douro.
Finally, you will arrive in Entre-os-Rios, a charming town where the rivers Tâmega and Douro converge. Here, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful riverside atmosphere, reflecting on the beautiful journey you've just completed.

Start by crossing the historic bridge over the Tâmega River, immediately immersing yourself in the lush scenery of the Douro Valley.Following the N108 road, you'll cycle alongside the Douro River, heading east. The route offers stunning, uninterrupted views of the river, flanked by rolling hills and terraced vineyards. As you leave Entre-os-Rios, you'll pass through small, picturesque villages such as Alpendurada and Torrão, each with its own unique charm and cultural heritage. The path is adorned with greenery and occasional traditional quintas (wine estates), offering perfect spots to take a break and enjoy the local landscape. Continue cycling through this serene environment, where the sound of the river and the rustling leaves create a peaceful atmosphere. Approaching the town of Cinfães, you'll notice the landscape becoming more dramatic with steep, terraced vineyards and rocky outcrops. The village of Cinfães is a great place to pause, perhaps visiting a local café or taking a brief detour to explore the town’s historical sites. Continue your journey along the riverside road, as it winds through more beautiful countryside. The ride offers a blend of gentle hills and flat stretches, making it a moderately challenging yet rewarding experience. As you get closer to Resende, you'll pass by scenic viewpoints and may spot some of the region’s famous cherry orchards.
Upon arriving in Resende, known for its thermal springs and cherry blossoms, you can relax and rejuvenate. The town offers several attractions, including the thermal baths of Caldas de Aregos, which are perfect for unwinding after a day of cycling.

Today's route will take you through verdant landscapes, where terraced vineyards and cherry orchards are abundant. This stretch offers peaceful scenery, with the river as your constant companion.
As you pedal eastward, you'll gradually ascend towards the town of Lamego. The climb can be moderately challenging, but the stunning views of the Douro Valley make it worthwhile. Lamego is perched on a hill, known for its baroque architecture and historical significance. Upon arriving in Lamego, visit the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, a stunning baroque church with an impressive staircase of nearly 700 steps.
After exploring Lamego, continue your ride towards Peso da Régua. The route will take you back down towards the Douro River, following smaller, scenic roads that wind through the vineyards and olive groves.This descent offers spectacular views over the valley and the river below, making for a memorable ride. The road leads you through more charming villages, where you can stop to rest and enjoy the local ambiance.
As you approach Peso da Régua, the landscape becomes more dominated by vineyards, indicative of the region's rich winemaking heritage. Peso da Régua is a key hub in the Douro Valley wine region, known for its port wine production. Arriving in Peso da Régua, you'll find a town that combines modern amenities with traditional charm. The Douro Museum is a great place to learn about the history and culture of the Douro Valley's winemaking. Stroll along the riverfront promenade, where you can see traditional rabelo boats once used for transporting wine barrels.

Start by cycling north out of Pinhão, ascending towards Casal de Loivos. The climb is moderately challenging, but the reward is well worth the effort. After about 5 kilometers, you’ll reach the Miradouro de Casal de Loivos, one of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Douro Valley. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Douro River winding through terraced vineyards. This is a perfect spot to take a break, capture some stunning photos, and soak in the beauty of the landscape. Continue your ride by heading northwest towards the village of Favaios. The route takes you through rolling hills and picturesque countryside, offering glimpses of the traditional wine-growing region. The road is relatively quiet, providing a peaceful and enjoyable cycling experience.
You'll then arrive in Favaios, a village renowned for its production of Moscatel wine. Take some time to explore Favaios, visiting local wineries and perhaps stopping at the Bread and Wine Museum to learn about the local heritage. Enjoy a leisurely lunch in one of the village’s traditional restaurants, sampling regional dishes and, of course, the famous Moscatel.
From Favaios, begin your descent back towards Pinhão. The ride takes you through more scenic vineyards and charming rural landscapes. The descent is gentle, allowing you to enjoy the views without too much exertion.
