Co-vid 19 plan - Update on safety procedures and cancellation policy

Hello all,

We know that the recent Co-vid 19 virus has been causing global concern and we are all watching closely how this situation will develop.

From the very beginning we have been accompanying the situation and we fully understand these are not the perfect conditions to anticipate your next cycling holidays as these are times when we are very much focused on our families health and well-being. We empathise with all our travellers concerns, especially those who are about to join us for a ride in 2020, and we do not wish to expose anyone to a health risk, be it our guests or our guides.

Regarding the measures we have put into place so that we can contain the development of this pandemic, we have advanced the following measures, from the 12th of March 2020, in order to keep our rentals and tours available to you:

- Our Lisbon office is currently closed until the 01st of April 2020;

- Meanwhile, our staff is working from home, and remain as available as always, on the following e-mail: info@gocyclingportugal.com - we are here to answer all your questions via e-mail;

- All our bikes and gear are cleaned and desinfected before being delivered to you;

- Pick-up and delivery of any bikes at our bike stations or other arranged locations must be previously scheduled at a specific time. So please let us know at what time will you be meeting us for pick-up and drop-off, so we can be there to hand you the bikes and gear as well as to receive it at the end;

Update on our cancellation terms - Postponement option

Even though our cancellation policy still stands, due to the current situation, we are offering our guests the possibility to avoid cancellation fees, by asking for a postponement of your tour or rental. These apply for rentals and tours beginning 12th of March 2020 to June 30, 2020 in Europe. For tours beginning on or after July 1, 2020 our standard T&Cs apply (we will be revisiting them regularly – please contact us with questions about your specific departure dates and we will be happy to reply)

- Postponement policy for bike rentals:

If you choose to postpone your rental up to 30 days before the start of your rental, we can keep the value you have already payed as a credit for a future rental with us, and good to be used until the 31st of December 2021. This credit/value would be yours to use in any rental until the 31st of December 2021, and we would not charge any penalty for the rescheduling -  it is, however, non-refundable, non-transferable to other guests and depends on future availability.

- Postponement policy for bike tours:

If you choose to postpone your tour up to 60 days before the start of your rental, we can keep the value you have already payed as a credit for a future rental with us, and good to be used until the 31st of December 2021. This credit/value would be yours to use in any rental until the 31st of December 2021, and we would not charge any penalty for the rescheduling -  it is, however, non-refundable, non-transferable to other guests and depends on future availability.

Go Cycling Portugal Cancellations: Go Cycling Portugal does not typically cancel a trip or rental service once it is guaranteed. However, due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation, we will consider cancelling a trip in the 30 days prior to the tour start date based on information from the Portuguese Government or National Health Board (Direcção Geral da Saúde):

If Go Cycling Portugal cancels a standard Self-Guided or a Bike Rental because of the above reason, one of the following options will apply*:

  • We will work with you to create or propose an alternative route or trip or delivery/collection location for you to make your trip during the same period and will assist you with your travel plans.
  • You may keep all your money on account for a future Go Cycling Portugal tour or service to be used by December 31, 2021.
 We do hope the virus can be contained and that all those affected by it can recover safely. We will be accompanying the situation as it unfolds and will contact you in case any changes occur – please feel free to reach out to us at info@gocyclingportugal.com if you have any further questions.

Stay healthy and safe,

The Go Cycling Portugal team
